DCCC Adds Sam Bennett to Red to Blue! PDF Print E-mail

ALLENTOWN – Today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced that Sam Bennett’s campaign for Pennsylvania’s 15th District has been added to its prestigious and competitive “Red to Blue” program.

“Sam Bennett is being named to the DCCC Red to Blue program for running a solid campaign for change and being committed to making things easier for middle class families in her district," said Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "With just 53 days to make her case for change to voters in their districts, the Red to Blue program will give Sam Bennett the financial and structural edge to be even more competitive in November.”

The Red to Blue program provides financial and strategic support to the top Democratic campaigns across the country. In 2006, the Red to Blue program raised nearly $22.6 million for 56 campaigns.

“I’m honored to be among the top competitive House races in the country and I thank Chairman Van Hollen for recognizing our efforts to bring new representation to the Lehigh Valley,” says Bennett.  “Lehigh Valley voters are hungry for change. I’ve worked for change in Lehigh Valley for 22 years, and I’m committed to working to lower the cost of gas and groceries, bring our troops home from Iraq responsibly and make sure that every American has health care just as good as every member of Congress.”

Bennett’s opponent, Charles W. Dent votes with George W. Bush as much as 4 out of 5 times, at the expense of hard working families.  Voters support Bennett because she'll work to bring change home to the Lehigh Valley.  That's why, last quarter, Bennett was able to rival Dent's fundraising, raising more than $225,000.  That's more financial support from individuals than any other Democratic congressional challenger in the state of Pennsylvania. [Federal Election Commission]

The DCCC recognizes candidates that are the most skilled at both communicating their message to voters and raising money on their own.
