Dent Lets Jobs Drive Away from Mack Trucks
ALLENTOWN – Yesterday, 1,500 Lehigh Valley workers found out that they may lose their jobs, when Mack Trucks announced with no notice that it will be closing its Allentown headquarters and sending good-paying jobs to North Carolina.  Republican Congressman Charles W. Dent has accepted thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from Mack Trucks Vice Chairman and former CEO, Paul Vikner.  But, Dent did nothing to promote incentives to keep these Mack Trucks jobs right here in the Lehigh Valley.

Dent Uses Taxpayer Dollars to Campaign
ALLENTOWN – Over the weekend, residents of the 15th Congressional District received campaign propaganda in their mailbox at Lehigh Valley taxpayers’ expense. Republican Congressional candidate Charles W. Dent mailed out his 6-page, color, glossy “energy update” apparently just outside of the 90-day window before an election where members of Congress are not allowed to use their taxpayer-funded mailing privileges.

  1. 30,000 LANTA bus tickets for people to get to work
  2. A day of childcare for 2455 working moms
  3. School supplies for 1667 elementary school kids
  4. A full tank of gas for 1,300 people
  5. Body armor for 289 troops in Iraq

Dent Skips District Event Because He Can't "Campaign"
ALLENTOWN – As Musikfest comes to a close today, Sam Bennett issued the following statement in response to Republican incumbent Congressman Charlie Dent’s refusal to attend:

“I went to Musikfest because it is one of the biggest community events in our district and a catalyst for the revitalization of the city of Bethlehem," said Sam Bennett, a Lehigh Valley leader and former small business owner. “It's disappointing that my opponent has time to politic in Washington at big dollar lobbyist fundraisers, but doesn’t have the time to talk with folks at a local event.”

Bennett Fundraising Scares Dent

August 6, 2008

ALLENTOWN – Sam Bennett’s grassroots campaign for change has scared Charlie Dent in his trac ks. Last week, Bennett raised $14,835 online, placing her in the top five online fundraisers in the country for July 28—August 3, according to Act Blue, a secure online fundraising site [http://campaignnewswire.blogspot.com/].

Bennett’s success can be attributed to an email she sent on July 29th seeking to counter Congressman Dent’s $1,000-a-plate lobbyist fundraisers in Washington.

Dent Votes With Exxon Again
Leaves Lehigh Valley Families in the Dust

July 28, 2008

ALLENTOWN – Last week Congressman Charlie Dent put Big Oil profits ahead of the interests of working families when he voted to block temporarily releasing 10% of the oil in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Historically, gas prices have dropped by 20% or more when the reserve has been tapped. Since 2005, when Dent first took office, gas prices have gone up 110% from about $1.85 a gallon in January 2005 to $3.86 a gallon today in Pennsylvania.

Meet Sam Bennett

"I am running because the Lehigh Valley can do better. It's time we had a Congressperson who votes with their conscience...And my conscience would not allow me to vote to continue this war...to take support away from senior citizens...to cut funding for children's healthcare - because we, as a country, have a responsibility to look out for each other."

- Sam Bennett, Democratic candidate for the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley.
