I am so grateful to you for supporting my campaign for change. Together, we made thousands of calls, knocked on tens of thousands of doors, and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars. In the end, our campaign earned more votes than any Democratic candidate in the history of Pennsylvania's 15th District.
Sen. Casey and Sam Bennett Call for Change from Top to Bottom
ALLENTOWN – U.S. Senator Bob Casey
(D-PA) joined Democratic Congressional candidate Sam Bennett for a round table
today to listen to local voters at the Bennett 2008 Campaign Headquarters.Woody Kolb, along with his wife Marilyn,
talked about their retirement savings, Helen Goldberg talked about how rising
fuel costs are hurting her business, and Vince Zoppi talked about his falling
property values.Sen. Casey urged all
those in the Lehigh Valley that want change to vote for Obama, Biden, and
Bennett.
PA 15: Sam Bennet to Bring Obama's Change to Lehigh Valley
Pennsylvania's 15th Congressional District is the battleground district
in the battleground state for this election. I'm running for Congress
because we'll need a new President to bring change to America and a new
Congresswoman to bring that change to the Lehigh Valley. For months,
we've been working hard to raise money, make calls, knock on doors, and
talk to voters. The message is simple - it's Sam or More of the Same!
ALLENTOWN – Democratic Congressional candidate Sam Bennett today shared her plan use green energy to boost the Lehigh Valley’s economy. During a news conference earlier today at a Bethlehem gas station, Sam Bennett called for a $100 billion investment in renewable energy to help end our dependence on Middle East oil and create millions of new green energy jobs. Over a dozen union workers and Sierra Club members came out to stand by her side.
Dent has run a special interest and lobbyist funded smear campaign to distract from his voting record. Sam Bennett continues to tell the truth about herself and her opponent's record because voters want reprsentative with a plan for the economy rather than a plan of personal attack.
Bennett Calls on Dent to Accept Health Care Pledge
ALLENTOWN – Democratic Congressional
candidate Sam Bennett today calls on her Republican opponent Charles W. Dent to
join her health care pledge. Bennett
pledges to buy her health insurance on the open market until every person in the
Lehigh Valley has access to the same quality of coverage as their member of
Congress. Republican Congressman Dent
currently takes advantage of the state legislature’s health care plan paid for
by Pennsylvania taxpayers. 36,000 of these taxpayers live in the Lehigh Valley
and don’t have insurance themselves, according to the Pennsylvania Insurance
Department, as reported by The Express-Times.
ALLENTOWN – Republican Charles W.
Dent, who began his time in Congress voting with George W. Bush four out of
five times, has spent four years voting with the Republican leadership in
Congress four out of five times. CQ Politics released their latest report of
Congressional member ratings this month.
Sam Bennett Talks Issues with College Students at LCCC
ALLENTOWN
– Democratic Congressional candidate Sam Bennett spoke to college students today
at Lehigh Carbon Community College. The Student Union put on the event as part
of the Pizza and Politics series.
Lehigh Valley Family Dines with Bennett, Dent Before They Decide
Who Will
Get Their Vote?
ALLENTOWN – Before deciding how
they’ll vote, a “bipartisan” family sat down for dinner with each candidate
running to represent the Lehigh Valley in Congress.PBS 39 helped Kevin, a Republican, and his
wife Krista, a Democrat, arrange two dinners recently with Republican Charles
Dent and then with Democrat Sam Bennett just this past Friday.Kevin and Krista will announce their pick
when the show airs.
As millions of people across the country make calls and knock on doors for our next President, Barack Obama, many folks in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley have been working double time. I'm running for Congress in the 15th District because we need change from top to bottom. We need a President changing our country and a Representative bringing that change home.
Volunteers are needed every day in the office to make calls, or go on the road talking to friends and neighbors. To sign up as a volunteer, please call 610-770-3280 or just stop by the office at 725 N. 15th Street in Allentown. Thanks for all your support and hard work!
Sam Bennett Speaks with Seniors at UAW
ALLENTOWN – Today, crowds of United
Auto Worker Retirees gathered at their general meeting to hear Democratic
Congressional candidate Sam Bennett share what she’ll do in Congress to help
seniors.
ALLENTOWN – At a breakfast with supporters today, former Green Party Congressional candidate Greta Browne
endorsed Democratic candidate Sam Bennett for Congress.
ALLENTOWN - The Republican
failure to join Democrats in passing legislation to address our country's
financial crisis is another example of what's wrong with Washington.
Congressman Dent has taken over $640,000 from the very groups that caused the
meltdown on Wall Street, and now refuses to be part of the solution when our job
security and retirement security are at stake.
ALLENTOWN – On the
heels of Congressional hearings about a proposed $700 billion bail out of the
failed Bush-Dent economic policies, OpenSecrets, a non-partisan campaign
finance watchdog, released an analysis of where the very people responsible for
the meltdown spend their money.
ALLENTOWN
– Just last night at 10:04 pm, the U.S. House of Representatives said YES to
American energy independence, and Republican incumbent Charles Dent said NO.
ALLENTOWN
– The latest proof of the failed Republican economic policies came yesterday
when investment bank Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection and Bank of
America announced it would acquire Merrill Lynch. With the Dow Jones Industrial Average
plummeting, Lehigh Valley families with retirement savings will be hit hard.
ALLENTOWN –
Today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced that Sam Bennett’s campaign for Pennsylvania’s 15th
District has been added to its prestigious and competitive “Red to Blue” program.
Sam Bennett: Dent-Bush Machine Costs Lehigh Valley Jobs
CHARLES “CHARLIE” DENT
ALLENTOWN – Democratic
congressional candidate Sam Bennett issued the following statement in response to
the new nationwide unemployment numbers at a new
five-year high (6.1 percent) and 160,000 people who lost their jobs just last
month.
“The failed
policies of George Bush and Charles Dent have put our economy on the wrong
track. Hardworking middle class Pennsylvania families need an immediate $1,000
in their pockets. And we need a new representative in Washington who will work
to create jobs here, not send them overseas,” said Sam Bennett, a former small
business owner and community leader.
ALLENTOWN – In a story called “What They
Make,” the Morning Call reported Sunday on the wealth gap right here in Lehigh
Valley, detailing the millions of dollars local CEOs
earn. And who do they give to politically? The $13 million-a-year CEO of Air
Products, John P. Jones, and $5 million-a-year CEO of PPL, James H. Miller, each give
Congressman Charles Dent thousands of dollars. Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman and
former CEO of Mack Trucks, Paul Vickner, which will cut hundreds of Lehigh
Valley jobs, will still cut checks of thousands of dollars to Charles Dent.

"I am running because the Lehigh Valley can do better. It's time we had a Congressperson who votes with their conscience...And my conscience would not allow me to vote to continue this war...to take support away from senior citizens...to cut funding for children's healthcare - because we, as a country, have a responsibility to look out for each other."
- Sam Bennett, Democratic candidate for the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, in the Lehigh Valley.
