Healthcare: It Doesn't Have to Be This Way |
The health care system we have now is broken. It’s too expensive, too bureaucratic, and leaves too many people uncovered. We need universal health care so that all Americans can benefit from the best hospital, doctors, and nurses in the world.
And we can find a way to do it that balances the needs of people, businesses, hospitals, and caregivers. It's within our reach.

As the next Congresswoman for PA-15, with one of the highest concentrations of union households, members, and retirees among all Congressional Districts in the country, I will proactively seek opportunities to enact and support legislation that restores fair treatment for America’s working families and unions. Our nation is only as strong as our working and middle classes; supporting unions and their members is one of the most efficient means to keep our economy and nation healthy over the long term. I am honored to have received the endorsement and financial support of over seventeen unions to date.

Taking National Security Seriously |
|
I come from a military family – my dad was a Marine officer, pilot and Vietnam vet, and my uncle is a retired Naval base commander. I was an ROTC Ranger during my freshman year in college. I believe in our troops and I’m angry to see how George W. Bush and Congressman Dent have failed them, in the field and at home.

The Near-Breaking of the National Guard |
|
One of the many unfortunate consequences of the war in Iraq has been the near-breaking of our National Guard. The Bush Administration has increased deployment of Guard units, shortened their time at home, and failed to properly equip Guard units for deployment in the war zone.

Social Security and Medicare: The Core of the American Dream |
|
We must protect and reaffirm the historic commitments of Social Security and Medicare. There is no place for the false promise of privatization. Social Security and Medicare should continue to be a promise of dignity from one generation to another, not a Wall Street windfall.

You Owe $100,000, thanks to Bush and Dent |
Every family in the Lehigh Valley knows you can’t run up debt year after year.
In the year 2000, the federal government posted a surplus of over $200 billion. But since then, George Bush and Congressman Dent have added over $3 trillion dollars to the Federal debt.

Education for Our Children, and Our Future |
Access to quality education has been the ladder into the middle class for generations of Americans, and it must remain so. Our society, our economy, and our culture were built on the shoulders of teachers. America and Pennsylvania need our educational system to be the best in the world. We must respect, nurture, and lift up all modes of education — public, private and home-based — and see that a college degree college becomes what high school became in the last century — available for all.

Public Service - Not Special Interests |
|
We have all been disappointed and appalled by continuing reports of corruption in Congress and the Administration. The most insidious effect of widespread corruption is the idea that “everybody in Washington does it.”

Big Brother Has Come Back |
|
The Bush Administration seems to have things exactly backwards. Where government should be robust – protecting and caring for its citizens – they have made it weak. Where government should tread lightly, they have made it overbearing.

Reproductive Health and Choice |
|
We should not have politicians in our bedrooms or in our doctors’ offices. Individuals should have the freedom and opportunity to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. To do so, they need the information and options necessary to make responsible life decisions; we all need to respect people’s ability to make their own life decisions and not impose our values and views on others. Further, we must reduce unintended and unwanted pregnancies in the U.S. and poor nations through increased access to family planning services. All individuals should have the ability to plan when they want to start a family, decide when they are ready to become a parent, in addition to making important end of life decisions.
